Projects That Build Connections

LINX develops and manages projects that build connections between businesses, research, and business development, based on materials science and the field of materials in general.

The projects serve as frameworks for collaboration, where new knowledge, technologies, and methods are put into practice. At the same time, they provide an opportunity to develop and test the forms of collaboration and working methods we use across organizations, disciplines, and needs.

What these projects have in common is a focus on materials science, the green transition, and strengthening Danish competitiveness through collaboration, relationships, and application-oriented knowledge.

Innovation in Practice

Highway to Material Science

The Materials Knowledge Highway works to make advanced materials knowledge more accessible and useful to small and medium-sized enterprises—and to make knowledge partnerships with companies more accessible to researchers and experts.

The project fosters connections between companies, research communities, specialists, and business development organizations. It helps companies understand and apply materials science knowledge in relation to their specific challenges and opportunities, and helps researchers identify new potential collaboration partners.

Through practice-oriented programs and by addressing individual development needs, the project aims to strengthen innovation, the green transition, and the development of new solutions and materials.

Secretariat for the Commercial Use of Research Infrastructures

LINX works to enhance companies’ access to and use of large-scale research facilities for materials diagnostics. These include facilities such as MAX-IV in Sweden, the European Spallation Source, and DESY in Germany.

The focus is on how knowledge of materials and specialized analytical methods that use X-ray and neutron radiation can go hand in hand and be better aligned with the needs and practices of Danish companies.

The project also aims to create a better framework for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the use of advanced diagnostics in the field of materials science in general. There is a desire in Denmark to equip Danish companies particularly well to understand the challenges in their products, production, etc.—including problems that can only be identified and solved using the advanced analytical techniques made available by large research facilities.

Past Projects

Experiences We Build Upon

Past projects form an important part of the foundation of experience and methodology that we continue to build upon today. Through these projects, we have developed knowledge, partnerships, and practical experience in the areas of materials science, the green transition, and cross-sector collaboration between businesses, research institutions, and business development organizations.

The Biogenic Building Guidelines

The “Biogenic Building Guidelines” project focused on developing and refining technical knowledge about bio-based construction materials and translating that knowledge into concrete, practical building guidelines. The project also aimed to expand the existing knowledge and practical foundation—known as “technical common property”—for green construction.

The project brought together stakeholders from research, the construction industry, and the field into a shared practice network focused on developing and testing new forms of practice-based knowledge development and collaboration.

Through dialogue, testing, and collaborative development, knowledge of materials was translated into practical construction guidelines and concrete working models. At the same time, the project worked to disseminate (awareness of) the construction guidelines through Denmark’s local business development agencies.

The experiences and methods gained from the project now form an important part of the professional and methodological foundation on which we continue to build our work.
